The Prairie Wind Middle School Band Director, Kevin Kosiak, requested funds for percussion equipment for his middle school marching band. Before, the percussion equipment owned by the school is designed for high school and adult size percussionists. They are very heavy, and too large for our 7th grade drummers. The 549 Family Foundation Grant has helped purchase the equipment to get a middle school marching band going.
Our band program has been growing steadily in the past few years, most of which are middle school students. By introducing marching band at a younger age, students will realize how much fun it can be. We can continue to grow the excitement as they reach high school.
This summer, Perham Schools will have a local school marching band performing in our own hometown parade for the 1st time in over a decade. We are proud and excited for our band program to continue to grow, and we can’t wait to see them at the Turtle Fest Parade in June!
