Our 6th grant for the 2018-19 School Year has been approved!
PWMS Instructor Bob Tangen is starting a Beginning Leather Working Club for students. While the club is open to all students, he plans to invite those students who might “fall through the cracks.” This will supplement the many athletic and fine art opportunities, but few in the area of manual crafts. A high priority of the club will be creating connections among the student participants. The club will also be available for students during their exploratory day each spring. Willing participants will be able to sign up to get the basics of leather work during their session.
The funds will be used to purchase various leather materials to keep the cost to students low. Participants will create key chains, coin purses, rounders (coasters), belts, etc. to take away and use as they see fit.
Students will gain an appreciation for the hard work it takes to develop skills in craftsmanship. Students who may not feel like they have a place to belong may find that place here.
