For many years, the kindergarten classes have visited the Chahinkapa Zoo to cap off the school year. This year is no different. This May, kindergarten students will load up in buses paid for by 549 Family Foundation and head over to the zoo in Wahpeton, ND.
Leading up to the visit, students will be studying zoo animals in the classroom. Visiting the zoo in person will give them the opportunity to connect their science understanding and learning by seeing real live animals. The visit ties directly into the Minnesota science standards, which teachers are required to meet.
Accompanied by teachers and parent chaperones, kindergarteners will enjoy the morning learning about the many animals in the zoo. Then, everyone will enjoy a picnic lunch at the park and playground. To cap it all off, every student will get to ride on the carousel.
Students and teachers have looked forward to this trip every year, and 549 Family is proud to have sponsored the trip for many years.
