HONORING DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI

549 Family Foundation is proud to announce the Deloris Barnack Kenner Distinguished Alumni Award. Named after PHS graduate Deloris Barnack, the recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award will be honored and announced at the Perham High School Commencement Ceremony each year.

The award will be given to Perham High School graduates that have positively impacted their community, wherever that may be in the world. Whether they are saving children’s lives in a developing country or leading a local project right here in our community, we want to take time to recognize the above and beyond efforts our alumni strive for every day.

ABOUT DELORIS BARNACK KENNER

Deloris Barnack Kenner was a graduate of Perham High School that went on to become a nurse in Chicago. The closest she ever lived to Perham again was in a nursing home in Detroit Lakes where she ultimately passed away in 2015. Before she passed, she set up the Deloris Barnack Kenner Fund with West Central Initiative (WCI). Although she never had strong connections back to the community, she left her mark by donating over one million dollars back to the Perham community. 549 Family Foundation was fortunate to make her list of giving, and we are still blown away by her silent generosity.

Do you know of deserving PHS graduates that has positively impacted their community? Nominate them for the Deloris Barnack Kenner Distinguished Alumni Award! Each February, 549 Family Foundation will select a recipient from a running list of nominations. The recipient will be announced at the Perham High School Graduation Ceremony in May of each year.

2019 Recipient – Chad Bormann

Chad is a 1997 graduate of Perham High School, and currently an architect at BHH Partners. Not only was Chad instrumental on the Vote Yes committee to get this high school built, he was also the Project Manager throughout the entire process. He was involved from early schematics, planning meetings, user group meetings, state approvals, actual construction, and the continuous follow up — which he jokes will be for life.

We are proud to honor and recognize Chad for the countless hours, sense of responsibility, and genuine care that he put into making this building all that it is today. He is typically a guy that likes to fly under the radar, which makes this award that much more fitting.
